Rewatching all of Richard Gurman Written or Co-Written Episodes
Published 9 Comments

Recently Norman Jablonsky and I have started rewatching all of Richard Gurman written or co-written episodes. I think we started doing this in preparation for the possibility that we may have a Zoom focused on this topic. Oh what a treat it has been. We have been watching them in order of air date. We finally made it up to “You better watch out” That scene where santa lands in the Bundy’s backyard never gets old. One of the things we have noticed is how the stories have evolved and how the characters have grown. I have to admit that watching just a few specific episodes per season has given us a different perspective on the show. You can see how the kids have grown up and how Peggy and Al have evolved. The subtle differences in how Al talks or Peggy’s hair and wardrobe choices. In the early episodes, Peggy was cooking and cleaning and worried about Kelly and Bud. Not so much in the later episodes. The Bundys even had food in the cupboards. It has been an interesting experience to view the show in this manner and I would highly recommend it to everyone. For those that are interested here is a list of all of the episodes either written or co-written by Richard Gurman………

Season 1, episode 5 = Have You Driven a Ford Lately?
Season 1, episode 6 = Sixteen Years and What do you Get?

Thats cool! I wonder which episode is @rgurman ‘s favorite…

I am not sure which one might be his favorite but it would be fun to have a show dedicated to him and get the opportunity to ask him personally. I think ts a really good idea for a show topic and it would be easy to do if he has the time to attend. So far I think he has been on every Zoom episode.

We need to ask Richard that this week.

I am not sure if these were the only episodes that he was involved with. These are the episodes that he has writing credit for……

Season 3, episode 8 “The Gypsy Cried” is the first reference to Peg’s “toy”. When the psychic, Madame Olga, senses “strong vibrations” in the room, Al Bundy quips to Peg, “Did you leave your toy running under the couch again?”

I laughed out loud for about 10 seconds, when I rewatched that episode. I had forgotten how funny that line/scene was delivered.

Having Richard on the live shows is truly amazing. He is the absolute perfect guest and only ever adds to the flow, always jumps in with something super interesting to add, and I just love it.

    Keep up the great work!
