Guess who’s line I worked this weekend???:)

I worked Monstermania con this weekend in Cherry Hill, NJ. They had Welcome To Derry, Hellraiser Reunion. The great Warwick Davis was there and I got to have an awesome conversation with Bryce Dallas Howard. The highlight of the weekend of course was Robert Mother-bleeping Englund and the whole Elm Street Crew. I worked Robert’s line Saturday and got to catch up with him on Sunday. I changed into my Polk High shirt and mentioned the modcast. He loved the idea and I’m certain he def would do it. Def seemed down for it! I really think a Halloween themed episode near the end of October would be awesome!!! Wishful thinking I know. I told him that the guest don’t have to stay the whole time so he may not be on long. Not sure but he def seemed interested. This would be awesome guest at some point cause I know this episode is a fan favorite and the Elm Street/Bundy fandom ruled the last 80s early 90s & be an amazing guest hopefully. Fingers crossed!

That’s awesome Tim! And MWC writers even had a play on the film series twice before… A Nightmare on Al’s Street and the episode where Buck let Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface in the house when Peg wanted to have Buck neutered.

That’s Charlie!!! How awesome would he be as a guest. My two favorite things as a child were FREDDY KRUEGER & AL BUNDY!!! As was alot of people I’m sure. Seeing these two together I remember goin ape shit! lol. Wish they had more time together. I always thought that like a road trip comedy with those two in the 90s would’ve been great. They were both in Ford Fairlane which is a guilty pleasure cult classic to some , but had no scenes together sadly.

I was terrified of horror movies as a child, so ai unfortunately did not experience them in that golden era of the horror genre. I finally watched the entire series of Halloweeen F13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street in my 20’s though.

I see a correlation between MWC & Nightmare. We all know that Al was a “hardened man” in the first 2 seasons, then really loosened up. The same goes for Freddy. Terrifying in the first few installments, then Robert introduces comedy within his character throughout the rest of the series.

You’re absolutely right. Never thought of it that way. And the weird thing for me personally with my tastes. It’s like I liked the cornier slapstick not as scary Freddy younger than I grew up and def loved the older better. Same with married. I liked the No Ma’am Jefferson era more as a child than when I grew up I liked the earlier more serious tone with Al and the older Elm streets.

I love em all though They’re all great in their own way except of course the terrible Jackie Earle Haley remake. Ughhh. It was too soon. Too Pedo Creepy. & they could’ve still used Robert. Everything about that one was pretty lousy. I heard it kept failing audience test screenings so bad that they reshot a lot more footage of Jackie sayin Robert lines to try to make up for it and even reshot the entire beginning and it still sucked. Lol

I really enjoyed both eras of MWC as well. I never correlated it with being a teen vs as an adult. I recognized the contrasting dynamic each character had in their relationship with Al & how they fed off of each other. It was just as fun watching Al challenge Steve to see his viewpoint on marriage & life as it was for him to have a like-minded friend in Jefferson.

I feel bad for Jackie Earl Haley… having a studio try to have him fill Robert’s iconic role was a terrible idea. I think he did the best he could with it & its failure had nothing to do with him. But there was no way in hell that the audience was going to accept anybody other than Robert Englund.

The story did get uncomfortable diving into the pedo part of the storyline. As fans we knew that had been hinted in Freddy’s backstory, but there are some things that are just too much to see played out on screen

Robert actually had a good storyline and wrote script ideas for it himself. He said you have to change the character to make it your own. He had an idea of a school janitor maybe with a tool belt with different weapons and show him eventually making the claw. Having a dirty grungy janitor outfit or something. You don’t have to do the same sweater and same fedora and all. You have to make it your own. I’ve met and talked with Jackie about it. He’s a great actor , just wasn’t the right role. It was your stereotypical remake. Nothing creative besides the Micro-naps. I was kinda bummed when the producers said that the first days of filming, the 1st day Jackie came out in the make up for the very first time that he said he had just watched the first movie the night before and he said it sucked. They said once they heard that they knew they had problems. I liked the idea of him being wrongfully accused and they screwed that idea up as well. I still like Jackie either way but if you don’t like or even respect the original then it’s hard to do the character justice

Al Bundy and Freddy Krueger were two of my favorite pop culture icons growing up… for sure!

Freddy Krueger on the Bundy Breakdown would be legendary. The man broke into our house once and honestly, he fit right in. Between him, Jason, and Leatherface, they were still less terrifying than Mom without her morning coffee. Robert Englund doing a Halloween episode? I’m in. Somebody make this happen. #BundyBreakdown #WhoaBundy

Bud speaks the Truth!!! I bet Robert would do it too. Great guy and a man of his word. He’s one the best people over ever met with his fans.
