The Unaired 12th Season
Published 10 Comments

I really found the ideas for where the Bundy’s would be in 2026 was fun! I always loved that we saw a fan spec script written. It led me to the idea that I am sure everyone has had a couple ideas for episodes of Married With Children. And since we were robbed of a final 12th Season let’s come up with episode ideas as if the show had a final season in 1997-1998. Think of holiday episodes, final closure and anything else. Truth be told I am better at thinking of Al and Peggy episodes than Bud and Kelly. After we come up with a list perhaps Richard Gurman could let us know his thoughts and if any of these ideas actually made it to writers room before being nixed.

1. Millionaire Al – After finding out Al has sold only 1000 shoes in his entire time at Gary’s he depressingly visits Lake Chicamocomico. He learns there that the entire development has been shut down and that the family was rewarded 1 million dollars years ago. It’s revealed that Peg actually spent most of this money on QVC. Later Al discovers that there was a second check for the other half million dollars. As Al quits his job and insults his final customer, he gets slapped with a lawsuit from L.A.R.G.E. — Ladies Against Ridicule, Gary’s Employees. Al pays off every customer and thus ends up with nothing.

2. How Peggy Met Al – A flashback episode where Al and Peg play themselves in highschool with Bud and Kelly respectively playing Al’s dad and Peg’s mom (in a fatsuit). This episode features Al getting a Dodge, his 4 touchdowns, meeting Peg and a summer job at a shoe store.

3. Ebenezer Bundy – Al’s insults at the shoe-store goes too far. He seemingly insults Mrs. Clause who just happened to be looking for holiday shoes. As absurd as it all seems, his insults leads to Christmas being canceled across the world. Santa Clause (played by a guest star) declares Christmas is over until Al apologizes to everyone he ever hurt. A twist on “A Christmas Carol”.

4. Peg wins a magazine contest to be a guest on Oprah. Unfortunately that means Al has to join her. Despite the No Ma’am crew trying to save Al, they both meet Oprah and appear on the show. In the ironic twist, Oprah ends up taking Al’s side by declaring Peg as the worst wife she’s ever met. The episode ends with Peg depressed and Al on the couch, one hand down his pants watching Oprah.

Ok, maybe I should be hired 🙂

Adam, I absolutely love this idea! I’m in! And you’ve already come up with some great ideas. Numbers 3 and 4 are hilarious!
If a few people join in, maybe we should focus on one episode at a time instead of everyone working on different things. We can throw our ideas together and see where it takes us. One thing will lead to another. This could be so much fun!

The only thing is, how do we keep it all organized? Posts eventually get buried, and the story might get forgotten. It would be great if a post moved back to the top whenever someone added a comment, so we could easily pick up where we left off. I know we get email notifications, but having it visible on the Club page would be much better.
And someone would need to keep track of our ideas, write down what we’ve agreed on and put everything together at the end.

Oh God, sorry… here I go again, already five steps ahead! 😂 My brain just won’t stop sometimes.

Anyway, let’s see who else is up for it. I love the idea, Adam! ❤️

Let’s just let people post ideas, don’t need to be as fleshed out as mine. Just nice to get a list. A fun thing.

I’m not saying we write an actual script but if the crew here wants we always could. I just like the idea of the concept of this and hearing what others come up with. I crazily enough have even more ideas but want to see everyone else’s ones first.

Okay, that’s fine with me. Let’s see what comes to mind while I’m on holiday…😊

This is an awesome Idea!! Im in!! Maybe to keep everything separated we work on one a week. This way all the Ideas for each week are in one place. Just an Idea. Just let me know when we are gonna start. Great Idea though

Yes, I love this! I wonder if we could coordinate, organize, and artistically do a Season 12 of MWC justice. As a fanfic to wrap up the original series, separate from our wish for a modern day Married… with Grandchildren or Divorced… with Children (as I have come to love).

I would love to have Richard Gurman help spearhead this idea, strictly for fun, and put him to work! Be the captain of the ship and show us how a real writer’s room operates.

My initial thoughts go immediately to how many episodes and what would be the overarching storyline for a final season. A true sendoff. Not every episode has to deal with (or even touch on) the overarching storyline, but it could be interesting to lay the groundwork early on and pepper hints throughout for a huge payoff at the end?

If this takes place back in the 90s still, perhaps its leading up to the year 2000 and Y2K? Maybe, to take a page out of my fan-script I made (still need to post some pages up) about the D’arcys are moving away? Maybe the Bundys are moving? Just throwing stuff at the wall…

Of course, we need all the standalone episodes, and I love the idea of Millionaire Al from Adam. Perhaps Season 12 deals with a string of good luck that Al knows will only lead to and culminate to an absolute disaster, the biggest they ever seen. Maybe that is the finale? The impending sense of doom, one episode at a time.

Your fanfic script was what prompted my idea!

Ok I had more episode ideas:

Bud learns they are rebooting Psycho Dad and as an agent tries to book both Al and Jefferson for the role. They both must go through a rigorous psycho dad test. Of course they both hijack each others attempts. After producers learn how nuts both of them got they cancel the show again saying it’s bad for television.

Bud falls in love with a true airhead that happens to be rich. The problem is he’s too smart for her. The family insists Bud must learn to be dumb and who better than Kelly to teach him how to turn off his brain.

A power outage leaves the Bundys and Darcy’s without lights one night. Al thought he was kissing Peg (which he regretted regardless) but finds out it was actually Marcy. In a play on Nightmare on Al’s street, Al keeps having nightmares with Marcy!

Al learns that for the last 12 years that once a week when he goes bowling, Peg has been cooking dinner for the family. After coming home one night early and seeing steak on the table Al insists Peg owes him 12 years of dinners. How does Peg get out of this one.

Bud volunteers the Bundy house to be used in a film. With Hollywood moving in, Al tried to land a role, Peg laziness is so infectious nobody does their job and the director falls in love with Kelly not realizing she’s part of this family. They chose the house because it was the dirtiest most unkept home in Illinois. And if they can all just stay out of the way, Bud earns $25,000.

Ok one more idea I had. Wow I feel like I have enough for a full season.

Bundys learn new neighbors are moving in on the other side of their house. They are spitting images of the family but and the Bundys hate them.

Haha! You have some real gems here. Bud taking airhead lessons from Kelly is really funny.

Flipping the idea so Al has dreams about Marcy is also really funny.

I love the idea of returning to the roots of MWC in the earlier seasons, but just for inspiration, but tone as well. Simple ideas with killer writing.

Should we start 12th Season group? Keep this train going?
