Season 8 Episode 12: A Little Off the Top
Al needs a minor operation on his back, and the surgical team misreads the instruction. Peg finds out from a hospital payphone in the middle of a call to Marcy. The rest of the episode is the family trying to keep a recovering Al from getting excited.
Season 8 Episode 11: Change for a Buck
Buck walks out and ends up in the dog pound, where an older dog explains the situation and an employee has a schedule. The Bundys do not notice he is gone until very late. Cheech Marin voices Buck and Dom DeLuise voices his cellmate.
Season 8 Episode 10: Dances with Weezie
Peg and Marcy drag their husbands to a Jeffersons stage reunion, so Al and Jefferson pay Bud and Kelly to sit in for them and sneak off to a new sports bar. Joe Namath is behind the counter. An argument about a beer commercial turns into a brawl.
Season 8 Episode 9: NO MA’AM
The women get their own bowling night and the nudie bar becomes a coffeehouse, so Al founds NO MA’AM. This is the organization’s first appearance, with Jerry Springer guesting as himself, and the only episode to feature its Five Demands.
Season 8 Episode 8: Scared Single
Al hires a young Polk High graduate who idolizes him, and then learns the boy is about to get married. Al’s response is to take him to the mall lounge and show him what marriage does to men. Kelly, meanwhile, has inhaled a canister of bug spray.
Season 8 Episode 7: Take My Wife, Please
The Grim Reaper arrives at the Bundy house wearing Peggy’s face and gives Al until midnight: if one family member says they need him, he lives. His family is next door, bribed into impersonating the Village People at Marcy’s charity party. The real Village People do eventually arrive.
Season 8 Episode 6: No Chicken, No Check
Bud and Kelly buy a car together and immediately have to share it, since both have dates the same night. Al insures it as a farm vehicle, which means a claim is only valid if there is a chicken aboard at the time of the accident. Meanwhile all the food in the house disappears.
Season 8 Episode 5: Banking on Marcy
Marcy overcomes her fear of public speaking by imagining herself having sex instead, and the resulting performance at the bank launches a new career. Al is in the audience, which leaves him temporarily impotent.
Season 8 Episode 4: Luck of the Bundys
Al goes on a run of good luck and is certain it is a trap, because he has a theory about his own life that does not permit it. Jefferson tries to cash in before it expires. Everything collapses at the end, and Al is the only one who is relieved.
Season 8 Episode 3: Proud to Be Your Bud?
Bud’s country and western makeover fails badly enough that he retires from dating entirely and moves into the basement. Then he starts building a portal, and something comes through it. Al, meanwhile, is fighting an automated phone system over a car part. The clip reel of Bud’s past failures is the highlight.
