They Wanted Someone More Innocent. So They Hired Bud Bundy.
October 3, 2026
A Bundy Club Zoom fan just did the homework David Faustino forgot to do. He was at work, listening to an old Howard Stern interview, and he came back to the couch with a story David had completely lost. Corey Feldman was supposed to be in it. Last minute, they needed somebody else. The reason, according to that interview, was that David fit it better because he was more innocent.
Sit with that for a second. Bud Bundy. The innocent one. The kid who spent eleven seasons trying to get a date, a car, and five minutes of privacy in a house where the dog had more dignity. Casting looked at the options and said, yeah, give it to the innocent guy. David heard it, laughed, and said he had forgotten. Of course he forgot. If someone calls you the innocent one while you are playing Bud, you file it under things that cannot be true and you move on.
That is the good part of these Zooms. The fans show up with the tape. They remember the interview you half did in another life, the role that almost went to somebody else, the line a director said once and never wrote down. David is on the couch in the Bundy Club hat, Dan Tullis is right there, and a fan in a headset is doing play-by-play on a Howard Stern clip like it is the Super Bowl. Nobody is reading a press release. Somebody heard it at work and could not wait to tell Bud.
The clip never names the song, which is very on brand. The whole point is the casting note. They did not want the obvious guy. They wanted the one who still looked like he might get his heart broken, which is a hilarious job description for the most famous virgin in sitcom history. David fit. Feldman did not. The fan remembered. Bud did not. That is a perfect Bundy Club evening.
Watch the whole thing. It is short, it is on the couch, and it ends with David going, that’s right, I had forgotten about that. Whole video at BundyClub.com.
This was about Sam Kinisons music video that David starred in called “UNDER MY THUMB”. A cover of Rolling Stones. Sam said on Howard Stern that a few days before filming Corey Feldman got arrested. And Sam suggested David and told Howard he was better for it anyway cause he had a more innocent look.
