Bud competes on a dating game show hosted by Bill Maher, against a man he has no chance of beating, and makes his case with total honesty. Al and Peg hold a contest over who will fall asleep first. Kelly decides the family is conspiring against her.
Kelly takes a job waitressing at a diner, which horrifies Peg, who raised her daughter specifically never to have to work. Kelly is terrible at it and then, gradually, good at it. Meanwhile the family is quietly living off the leftovers she brings home. Brian Doyle-Murray plays her boss.
The Bundys can no longer afford a TV Guide, so Al muscles his way into Jefferson’s psychic hotline scam and builds it into an empire. Then he crosses Madame Inga, who controls the west side and turns out to have real powers. The family ends up as monkeys.
Al’s eyesight is going and he refuses to admit it, even after losing a hundred dollar prize to Jefferson because he could not read the number on the screen. Bud and Kelly talk him into glasses. Seeing his own life clearly turns out to be worse than not seeing it.
