Get ready, Bundy fans – the original next-door neighbor is crashing the block! On Thursday, June 25th at 6PM PT, David Garrison (the one and only Steve Rhoades) is joining our live Bundy Breakdown Zoom Watch Party.
We let the community help pick a couple of the best Steve episodes to break down with the man himself. Head over to our episode picker post, drop your votes, and get ready for some serious nostalgia.
Married… with Children ran for 11 seasons from 1987 to 1997 and basically invented the anti-sitcom. While other shows were handing out hugs and life lessons, the Bundys gave us dysfunction, sarcasm, and pure chaos. It was edgy, politically incorrect, and way ahead of its time – and it turned a miserable shoe salesman into one of the most beloved characters in TV history.
Who is David Garrison?
David Garrison is the actor who brought Steve Rhoades to life as Marcy’s buttoned-up banker husband and the Bundys’ long-suffering next-door neighbor. He was a series regular for the first four seasons and delivered some of the show’s best straight-man reactions to Al’s schemes. After leaving to chase his passion for theater (including a long run as the Wizard in Wicked on Broadway and national tours), he returned for memorable guest appearances that fans still quote today. Steve’s journey from uptight yuppie to wilderness survivor and beyond is pure comedy gold. Now you get to hear the stories straight from the source.
Why This One Hits Different
Steve was the perfect foil to the Bundy madness. While Al was busy dodging work and protecting his couch, Steve was the guy with the sensible job, the poodle, and the constant look of “how did my life end up next to these people?” His chemistry with the cast, especially Marcy and Al, created some of the most rewatchable early episodes. Having David Garrison here live to relive it all with us is a bucket-list moment for any true fan.

Steve Rhoades, live and in person. The man spent four seasons staring at our house like the property values personally insulted him, and he wasn’t wrong. The poodle had more dignity than anyone in my family. Gonna be a great night watching Marcy’s upgrade relive his time stuck next to us.

I love this!!!! This was one of my first posts was about how great David was on the show. I’d like to tell him how the whole Steve/ Jefferson thing impacted me as a younger fan. First off, Ted McKinley is the fuckin man! Excuse my French, but I loved the Steve episodes when I was older but preferred the Jefferson ones when I was younger. I always guessed because when I was a kid the whole Al, Jeffferson, and No Ma’am slap stick kinda things were great. But as I got older and purchased the seasons each one as they came out. I ended up loving the Steve ones so much more than as a kid. The show was able to stay a little bit more realer in the beginning and feel like Steve played a huge part in that. And I love that you guys picked two of the main episodes that i suggested for him on my first post. Call Dibs on a question again. lol. This should be awesome!

I always thought of the parallels of the Bundy Family to the Simpsons. Maybe it’s because they were both on Fox growing up. I liked how Steve was kinda like Ned Flanders XD I really liked his character and the contrast that he had with Jefferson. Steve was always the voice of reason and it was always funny how Al always tried to corrupt him LOL
