Joey Lauren Adams Joins the Bundy Breakdown Thursday, October 15th!
October 10, 2026
Thursday, October 15th at 6:00 PM Pacific, Joey Lauren Adams is joining us live on the Bundy Breakdown Zoom.
Hey Bundy Club fam… I have some really good news. My friend Joey Lauren Adams is coming to the Bundy Breakdown. That is right… the woman who played Janey, the bride who gave Bud Bundy the greatest weekend of his young life, is sitting down with us live this Thursday, October 15th.
If you were around for that one, you know exactly what I am talking about. Janey wanted one last fling before she walked down the aisle, and out of everybody in that room, she picked Bud. That storyline handed me some of my favorite material in the whole run of the show, and Joey is the reason it worked.
Here is the part a lot of you may not know. The Wedding Show was not her first time on our set. It was not even her second. Joey turned up in the Bundy universe three different times playing three completely different people, and we are going to get into all of it.
How Our Zoom Watch Parties Work
- We pick the episodes and tell you which ones ahead of time.
- You watch them on your own time.
- We go live on Zoom with me and the crew for discussion, stories, and questions.
It is like a book club… but for Married with Children episodes.
Who Is Joey Lauren Adams?
Joey Lauren Adams was born January 9, 1968 in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and if you came up in the ’90s you know that voice the second you hear it.
Most people know her from Chasing Amy (1997), where she played Alyssa Jones. That performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy and the Chicago Film Critics award for Most Promising Actress. Before that she was Simone in Dazed and Confused (1993) and Gwen in Mallrats (1995), and after it she played Layla opposite Adam Sandler in Big Daddy (1999).
She also moved behind the camera. Her directing debut Come Early Morning (2006) starred Ashley Judd, premiered at Sundance, and won her the Women in Film Dorothy Arzner Directors Award. On the TV side she has shown up in The United States of Tara and spent two seasons as Debbie Lynn Cooke on Still the King.
But before any of that, she was standing in our living room.
The Episodes Joey Lauren Adams Was In
Three appearances, three completely different characters. Do your homework on all of them.
“The Wedding Show” (Season 7, Episode 13)
This is the main event. Joey plays Janey, cousin Jimmy’s bride to be, who decides she wants one last fling before the wedding and finds Bud. It aired January 10, 1993, which was the day after Joey turned 25. Watch what she does with the part. She plays it completely straight, and that is exactly why it lands.
The story does not end there either. It picks back up later that same season in “Wedding Repercussions” (Season 7, Episode 25), with Jimmy still trying to work out who wrecked his wedding and Bud sweating every second of it. Watch the two back to back and the whole thing plays like a two parter with half a season in between. Details are on our Wedding Repercussions episode page.
“Buck Has a Belly Ache” (Season 6, Episode 6)
Here she is Cousin Effie, one of the Wanker relatives, opposite William Sanderson as Cousin Eb. Different character, different accent, different everything. If you only know her as Janey, this one is going to catch you off guard.
“Top of the Heap” (Season 5, Episode 20)
Our backdoor pilot for the Top of the Heap spinoff, with Matt LeBlanc as Vinnie Verducci. Joey plays Mona Mullins, the neighborhood girl with a crush on Vinnie who will not take a hint. She went on to play Mona across all seven episodes of the spinoff. Details are on our Top of the Heap episode page.
What to Expect Thursday
We will break down the best moments and give Joey plenty of room to tell stories from her time on our set and from everything she has done since. Bring your questions. Whether you want to ask about shooting the wedding storyline, working with Matt LeBlanc on Top of the Heap, what it was really like making Chasing Amy, or what directing taught her… this is the night to ask.
Joey is a friend of mine and she is a real one. Genuine, funny, zero pretense. These Zooms always turn into something bigger than an episode breakdown, and with her in the mix I think this one is going to be special.

Whoa Bundy.
She is great, looking forward to this one!
1,000% !
Dang…I have a show with Diana Prince at Cliftons in DTLA for “BadMovieClub”. I’ll try to squeeze in from my phone.
bruh. WE’ll miss ya. Put one in the air for us
This is going to be fun! I haven’t watched the wedding episode in forever but from what I remember it was really well written. The Al and Peg subplot is also one of the more relatable stories I can think of.
nice. I can’t even remember the b-plot at the moment
Peg taking forever to get ready for the wedding as Al loses his mind. Every guy can relate
Gonna do my studying up on the episodes this week and need to catch up on Chasing Amy as well as Mallrats and Big Daddy. I have seen Dazed and Confused many times. What a genius film. Man, the careers that that film launched… And fucking Matthew M’s performance. Wowww. And Ben Affleck is GENIUS in that scene he gets paint dumped on him hahaaaa.
Joey on Bundy Breakdown? Another babe slumming it. Dazed & Confused? That’s my love life, McConaughey. Pass.
