You Didn’t Make the Sound, Bundy: Pauly Shore joins us on the Bundy Breakdown on Thursday July 9th
June 27, 2026
So, as I mentioned, my old pal Pauly Shore is joining us on Thursday July 9th at 6pm PST!!!
Super excited to have Pauly join us for our next Bundy Breakdown. We’ve been friends for many years…I’m thinking even before he was a guest on the show, but not exactly sure when/where we first met. Years later, he and the team at Hollywood Pictures aka Disney wanted me for the role opposite him in Encino Man. At that time in my life I hadn’t auditioned for anything in many years because I was working on MWC, and I had kind of lost that skill lol (auditioning and acting on-the-job are two entirely different beasts) and I was less than stellar during the screen test. I remember Pauly being a bit frustrated with me that I wasn’t really going for it and bringing the heat. When I really reflect on it, I think I was super young (16 or 17) and very nervous to be back in a room with studio execs. Oops. Lesson learned. The part went to the nicest guy in showbiz, Sean Austin, who I coincidentally ran into this weekend here in Buffalo for the Nickel City Con. (he’s the most normal and unaffected ex-child actor I know. And I’m very happy for his success).
We were also both close with the great and sweet-souled, Sam Kinison (who was Pauly’s babysitter back in the day.. I’ll let him talk about that, ha).
Years later we found ourselves in an acting class together with the then “it” acting coach in the city (personally I think this woman screwed me up more than she helped me).
I recently went to the Comedy Store and had the pleasure of seeing his one-man-show which is great and I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
Anyway, really looking forward to this zoom party. As you probably already know, the episode is called “Three Job, No Income Family”, (Season 3 episode 14 if CHAT GPT is correct 😂) written by our friend Richard Gurman!
Get your homework in and watch the episode and get your questions ready! And, possibly most importantly, don’t forget to make the sound! Woosh! Season 3 Episode 14: A Three Job, No Income Family
See you on Thursday the ninth, buuuudddyys!!!!
More about Pauly
Born on February 1, 1968, Pauly Shore grew up in the middle of the Los Angeles stand-up comedy scene. His parents, Sammy Shore and Mitzi Shore, founded and later operated the famous The Comedy Store. Because of that, he spent much of his childhood around legendary comedians, giving him an early appreciation for stand-up comedy.
As a teenager, Shore began performing his own stand-up, gradually creating his laid-back California surfer persona known as “The Weasel.” His catchphrases and relaxed style caught the attention of MTV, and in 1989 he became one of the network’s most recognizable VJs. His popularity exploded as he introduced music videos and hosted specials with his unique brand of humor.
Around that same period, Shore guest-starred on Married… with Children as The Captain, the overenthusiastic Burger Trek manager who constantly irritated Al Bundy by making him say “Whoosh!” whenever he slid a burger across the counter. Although it was only a single episode, the role showcased the same energetic, quirky personality that was making him a television star.
His success on MTV soon led to starring roles in comedy films, beginning with Encino Man, followed by Son in Law, In the Army Now, Jury Duty, and Bio-Dome. During the early and mid-1990s, he became one of Hollywood’s best-known comedy actors, with his “Weasel” character becoming a defining part of pop culture.
Shore continued performing stand-up, making independent films, podcasting, and touring. He has remained closely connected to The Comedy Store, helping preserve the legacy of the club that shaped both his childhood and his career.
Looking back, his appearance on Married… with Children serves as an early example of the comedic style that soon made him a household name, while also fitting perfectly into the show’s tradition of memorable guest stars.
Cool!
He had a show on FOX around the time MWC was wrapping up. Christina was in an episode on 1997. Kinda surprised you didn’t make an appearance, David!
ohh. cool. Huh, My invite must’ve gotten lost in the mail. That BASTARD!
I’m really diggin this Dave. It’s def something cool and special. I love that you guys record and save these cause it’s something fans can come back and watch over and over. I’m still thrilled I got to talk to David. Thanks for that! I still think the number one episode yous guys can do though is an Amanda/Ed episode in the future. Maybe extend that one an extra 30 mins or so bring Marcy on and half way thru bring Al in or something. I def think they would both be down for it possibly, you got ur workout for u on that one but they both talk highly of each other and both were such vital to the success and lasting power of the series. I sound like a broken record but I know fans would go Ape Shit to see those two together at same time again. Shout out again to you David Faustino and rest of the crew for makin this possible.
Glad you’re diggin it, Tim. yea, man glad you got to speak with Dave as well! That was badass getting to reconnect with him!
Yea, you said it, not sure either one would be open to that, lol! I was just with Amanda all weekend at the Nickel City Con in Buffalo! We did a panel together. Was very cool! Anyway I’ll keep that one in the back of my mind and we’ll see how it goes! See you on the 9th!
This is gonna be a fun one for sure!
Woooosh!
1000 bro!
Thanks, David. I always love these little stories and details that only you can share with us. ❤️
And as always, I’m already so excited to see you all again. And I really mean all of you. ❤️
It’s wonderful to see the familiar faces who join us regularly. I also have to say how impressed I am by the amazing attention to detail and the thoughtful questions from so many fellow fans. And I’m really happy that we’re seeing a bit more female power in the community too. I love that.
happy to share the insight. I promised I would! And yes, bring on the ladies!!! (as long as you’re not behind the wheel of a vehicle). Wait did I just think that or write it for everyone to see? 🤔
Girl power!
This will be a fun one! Anyone else notice a “callback” to the pilot episode here? Hint, it involves Peg.
you mean in this particular episode? Or?
Yup. Her horrible coffee. That was a gag in the pilot (well making bad coffee for Al and Steve).
“You’re a disgrace to the Hat!!! You pulled another Burger Boner! Never should’ve fired my dad!!”
ahaahahaaaaaa! So many great lines. Can’t wait to re-watch it!
Wooosh!
woosh indeed1
I forgot how funny and how many memorable lines are in this episode.
yes it was definitely and still is a fan fave!
Marcy’s response “and your children” is one of her most savage lines.
I love that Al smashes down the burger with his fist, before he sends it down the chute to be served.
Pauly was great in this episode. Was there any talk of Pauly doing additional MWC episodes? Al and him could have had some more hilarious scenes…
I was so looking forward to seeing everyone, but I’ll have to miss this one. I’m still recovering from a nasty cold and finally starting to feel better, so I think getting a few proper nights of sleep is the smarter choice. I’ll definitely catch the replay, though! Have an amazing Zoom, everyone. ❤️ See you next time!
We’ll definitely miss having you for this one. Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you. ❤️ I’m really going to miss seeing everyone live. There’s just something special about experiencing it all in real time. I’ll definitely be back next time!
Do we get a free toothpaste sandwich for this event?
I’ll bring the Crest toothpaste!
If you listen closely, when Al is about to take a bite of the sandwich, a studio audience member can be heard saying, “Don’t do it Al!!”
Pauly shore Legendary right there ! I remembered that episode . David thank you for sharing that you were against Pauly for Encino Man and the reality between auditioning and on the job filming. True fact ! See you at the Party!
Can’t wait to rewatch the upload of this!
Are yous posting the full Pauly video. Sorry. I’m impatient
