The king himself is showing up. Ed O’Neill, the one and only Al Bundy, is joining our live Bundy Breakdown Zoom Watch Party to review Season 5, Episode 14: “The Godfather.”

If you haven’t seen this one in a while, let me set the stage for you. Kelly starts dating a guy connected to a powerful city councilman, and Al, being Al, decides this means he’s connected now. What follows is one of the most hilarious power trips in MWC history. Al starts strutting around the neighborhood like he’s Don Corleone, granting favors, kissing hands (or trying to), and genuinely believing he runs the block. It’s Al Bundy at peak delusion, and honestly, peak comedy.

What makes “The Godfather” a classic is the way Ed plays it completely straight. Al isn’t joking around. He is dead serious about being the most powerful man on his street, and that commitment to the bit is what makes every scene land. The family dynamics are gold here too. Peg is riding the wave, Kelly has no idea what she started, and Bud (yours truly) is just watching the whole thing unravel. It’s one of those episodes where every Bundy gets a moment to shine.

This is Season 5, which a lot of fans consider the show’s creative peak, and “The Godfather” is a perfect example of why. It takes a simple setup and just lets the cast go to work. Watching it with Ed himself breaking down how those scenes came together? That’s a once in a lifetime hang.
