Amanda Bearse is an American actress, director, and producer with a career spanning more than four decades. Born in Winter Park, Florida, she got her start in 1982 on the long-running daytime soap All My Children, then broke through on the big screen in 1985 as Amy Peterson in the cult horror classic Fright Night. From 1987 to 1997 she starred as Marcy Rhoades, later Marcy D’Arcy, in all 259 episodes of Married with Children, becoming one of the most iconic comedic foils in sitcom history. Behind the camera, Amanda built an equally impressive career as a television director, helming 31 episodes of Married with Children and going on to direct MADtv (where she spent six seasons), Reba, Dharma and Greg, The Big Gay Sketch Show, Anger Management, Reno 911, Jenny McCarthy, and many more. She is also a trailblazing voice in LGBTQ comedy and was one of the first openly gay actresses to lead a hit network sitcom. Today she remains a beloved figure in the Married with Children family and a respected creative force in television.
