Katey was the glue.

Peg Bundy’s energy was outrageous, but Katey’s presence was grounding. She brought professionalism and warmth into every rehearsal.

She encouraged Christina and me. She protected the younger cast. She balanced the wild energy of the show with grace.

Her physical comedy was underrated: the way she moved, posed, strutted, and delivered lines with that signature Peg rhythm. She could land a joke without saying a word.

And the craziest part? Katey is a phenomenal singer, and some cast members didn’t even know at first. Her talent runs deep.

Working with Katey was a blessing. She was our set mom, the exact opposite of Peg, which is probably why it worked so beautifully.

Katey was the opposite of Mom in every way that mattered. Peg would let us starve while watching Oprah. Katey made sure we had snacks on set and knew our lines. The fact that she could play a woman who couldn’t care less about her kids while actually caring about us the most is the kind of acting range they don’t teach you about. And yeah, she’s a killer singer. First time I heard her actually sing I thought somebody left the radio on. Nope, that was just Katey casually being talented at everything while the rest of us were out here just trying to keep up. The Peg strut alone deserves its own Emmy category.
