The Truth About Bloopers: We Should’ve Released a Whole Series
March 10, 2026
If fans ever saw our full blooper reels, every blown line, every prop malfunction, every time Ed made us break, you’d understand why we laughed as hard as the audience. Married… with Children had some of the funniest behind-the-scenes moments in TV history, and most of them happened because the cast couldn’t get through a scene without losing it.
Ed O’Neill was the silent assassin. He’d change one tiny facial expression or add a muttered line under his breath that wasn’t scripted, and suddenly Christina or I would start cracking up uncontrollably. Katey had the opposite problem: she stayed composed until someone else laughed, and then she’d break instantly.
Some props were disasters. Shoes flying off shelves. Doors sticking. The toilet flushing at the wrong time (yes, that actually happened during a rehearsal). Once, a prop “birthday cake” melted under the stage lights and collapsed mid-scene like a sad soufflé.
And Buck? The dog stole more scenes than any of us. Sometimes he’d wander off mid-take. Sometimes he’d stare directly into the camera. Sometimes he’d yawn loudly enough to ruin a dramatic moment.
The thing is, those moments bonded us. You can’t fake that kind of connection. You can’t manufacture it. The laughter on set created laughter on screen.
We should’ve released a blooper series. The world deserved those moments.
It’s strange that MWC never got the ‘blooper reel’ treatment other shows did. There’s just a select few outtakes out there.
